ASHRAE weather data isn’t updating to the correct location

Section titled “ASHRAE weather data isn’t updating to the correct location”

If Basis of Design > Weather shows the wrong location or returns distant weather stations, the weather query may not have refreshed.

To force a refresh:

  1. Go to Basis of Design > Weather.
  2. In the Project Address field, enter a different address (for example, a nearby location).
  3. Re-enter the correct project address.

Committing a new address reloads the nearby stations and selects the nearest one. Re-entering the address that is already saved does nothing, which is why the workaround goes through a different address first.

Every export type (PDF, ZIP archives of CSV files, DOCX, XML, and JSON) is generated the same way. Generation runs in the background, each attempt is capped at 30 minutes, and HVAKR retries a failed attempt automatically before giving up. A long run (10+ minutes) usually reflects project size or complexity rather than a failure.

While an export is generating, its row in the Exports table shows a Loading… placeholder and can’t be downloaded or deleted. The table updates live — you don’t need to refresh the page.

If the final attempt fails, the row’s name changes to Failed to generate. A failed row can’t be downloaded or deleted. If you checked Notify me when complete when you created the export, an Export “…” failed notification also arrives in your Inbox.

If an export is stuck or failed:

  1. Wait for the Loading… row to resolve — a large report can legitimately take 30 minutes or more with retries.
  2. Once the row reads Failed to generate, create the export again with Create Export. Narrow the scope with the include checkboxes if the project is very large.
  3. If it fails again, contact HVAKR support — we can clear the stuck job and run the report on your behalf.

See PDF Export for report options and formats.
