PDF Export
HVAKR generates professional PDF reports suitable for client deliverables, permit applications, and construction documents. CSV, Word, and data exports are also available from the same Exports page.
Available Reports
Section titled “Available Reports”Create reports from Reports > Exports. The Create Export dialog only lists export types allowed for your project type and enabled for your organization. License-gated types still appear in the list — selecting one your license doesn’t cover shows an upgrade notice instead of letting you create it.
Loads Report
Section titled “Loads Report”Complete load calculation documentation:
- Project, system, zone, and space summaries
- Load component breakdown
- Optional loads profile charts and psychrometric charts
Basis of Design
Section titled “Basis of Design”Project documentation covering design criteria, building data, and system configuration.
HVAKR J
Section titled “HVAKR J”Residential load calculation report. Only appears for residential projects, and only when your organization has this feature enabled.
ASHRAE 62.1 IAQP Ventilation Summary
Section titled “ASHRAE 62.1 IAQP Ventilation Summary”Ventilation performance report for the ASHRAE 62.1 Indoor Air Quality Procedure. It compares the as-designed IAQP outdoor air with the Ventilation Rate Procedure requirement. Only appears for commercial projects, and only when your organization has this feature enabled.
Mechanical Specification
Section titled “Mechanical Specification”AI-generated Division 23 mechanical design specification, delivered as a Word document (.docx). Only appears when your organization has this feature enabled.
Drawings
Section titled “Drawings”Vector plan-sheet drawing of the project canvas with an engineering title block, rendered server-side as a PDF. Pick which canvas to draw — Spaces, Zones, Systems, System Configuration, Air Balancing, or System Design Layout — in the dialog.
The same PDF is also available from the Export Canvas button on the Spaces, Envelope, Zones, Systems, System Configuration (canvas and diagram), and System Design Layout canvases. That path exports the view you are looking at, with its own Export Canvas dialog:
- File name — defaults to the canvas you are exporting followed by “Drawing” (for example Zones Drawing, Walls Drawing, or System Diagram Drawing)
- Appearance — Light or Black & white
- Sheet setup — the page size. Where the canvas has a scale, a Sizing control offers Fit to page or Draw to scale, and Draw to scale replaces the page size with Scale and orientation
That dialog does not download the PDF. HVAKR saves the canvas settings, shows Preparing export… until the server starts generating, then takes you to Reports > Exports, where the new row finishes on its own.
CSV Exports
Section titled “CSV Exports”Spreadsheet exports for further analysis. These three are delivered as ZIP archives of several CSV files:
- Loads Report CSV — space, zone, and system load data
- Time Series Loads CSV — hourly load profiles
- Ventilation and Airflow CSV — ventilation and airflow design data
ASHRAE 62.1 IAQP Ventilation Compliance
Section titled “ASHRAE 62.1 IAQP Ventilation Compliance”Compliance data for the Indoor Air Quality Procedure, delivered as a single CSV file rather than a ZIP archive. It holds one row per space plus a project total, with the ventilation schedule (area, Pz, people density, Rp, Ra, V_BZ, Ez, and the VRP V_OZ), the as-designed IAQP outdoor air and method, air cleaning data, the compliance status, and a column group for each design compound the project uses. Only appears for commercial projects, and only when your organization has this feature enabled.
gbXML Model
Section titled “gbXML Model”Green Building XML geometry and construction export (.xml). Requires a Team or Enterprise license.
Raw JSON
Section titled “Raw JSON”Complete project data and global reference data as a single JSON file. Requires a Team or Enterprise license.
Report Options
Section titled “Report Options”When you create an export, choose an export type and configure its options in the dialog.
Loads Report Options
Section titled “Loads Report Options”- Loads Configuration — cooling and heating, cooling only, or heating only
- Include Systems, Include Zones, Include Spaces — control which scopes appear
- Include Loads Profile Charts and Include Psychrometric Charts — toggle optional charts
At least one of Include Systems, Include Zones, or Include Spaces must stay checked. Uncheck all three and a Select at least one scope to include warning appears, and Create Export is disabled until you recheck one.
CSV Export Options
Section titled “CSV Export Options”Options vary by CSV type:
- Loads Report CSV — a Loads Configuration select (cooling and heating, cooling only, or heating only) plus Include Project, Include Systems, Include Zones, Include Spaces, and Include Equipment scope checkboxes.
- Ventilation and Airflow CSV — Include Project, Include Systems, Include Zones, and Include Spaces scope checkboxes plus data toggles: Advanced Supply Air Data, Advanced Ventilation Data, Design Airflow Summary, Exhaust Design Data, and Ventilation Design Data.
- Time Series Loads CSV — no options; it exports the full hourly load profile.
As with the Loads Report, at least one scope checkbox must stay checked for Loads Report CSV and Ventilation and Airflow CSV. Uncheck them all and Create Export is disabled until you recheck one.
Drawings Options
Section titled “Drawings Options”- Drawing — a visual selector for the canvas to draw: Spaces (default), Zones, Systems, System Configuration, Air Balancing, or System Design Layout
- Appearance — Color or Black & white
- Page size (fit to page) — 8.5” × 11”, 11” × 17”, 24” × 36”, 30” × 42”, or 36” × 48” in portrait or landscape; defaults to 36” × 24”
- Include annotations and Include floor plans and maps — toggle the canvas annotations and the sheet or map background
The Export Name defaults to the selected drawing followed by “Drawing” (for example Spaces Drawing) and updates when you change the Drawing selection.
Basis of Design, HVAKR J, both ASHRAE 62.1 IAQP exports, Mechanical Specification, gbXML Model, and Raw JSON have no configurable options.
Stamps
Section titled “Stamps”Every PDF report except Drawings shows stamp controls in the confirm step:
- Mark as Preliminary — stamps the cover page as preliminary, not for construction
- Include P.E. Stamp — adds your uploaded P.E. stamp for the project’s state; disabled until you upload a stamp for that state under Settings > User Profile
Exports use your current display unit system (Imperial or Metric) at the time you click Create Export. Change units under Settings > Preferences before generating if needed.
Organization Branding
Section titled “Organization Branding”PDF cover pages use your organization logo from Settings > Organization. If no logo is set, HVAKR’s default logo is used.
Generating Reports
Section titled “Generating Reports”- Go to Reports > Exports
- Click Create Export
- Select an export type and enter a name
- Configure export options
- Click Create Export
The row appears in the Exports table as soon as you create the export and shows a loading placeholder while the server generates the file. Download and Analyze stay disabled until generation finishes, and the table updates live.
The dialog estimates the work before you create the export. PDF reports HVAKR can page-count — Loads Report, Basis of Design, HVAKR J, and the IAQP Ventilation Summary — show an estimated page count and an estimated time. Any export estimated to take more than 30 seconds, CSV exports included, also gets a Notify me when complete checkbox.
Downloading
Section titled “Downloading”Click Download on a completed export to save it. The file type depends on the export type you chose: PDF (Loads Report, Basis of Design, HVAKR J, IAQP Ventilation Summary, and Drawings), DOCX (Mechanical Specification), ZIP (Loads Report CSV, Time Series Loads CSV, and Ventilation and Airflow CSV), CSV (IAQP Ventilation Compliance), XML (gbXML Model), or JSON (Raw JSON).
AI Analysis
Section titled “AI Analysis”For completed PDF reports up to 20 MB, click Analyze to open the report in AI chat for summarization. Reports above that size can’t be analyzed — narrow the scope with the include checkboxes to shrink the file first.

Section titled “Before Exporting”- Complete calculations — ensure all spaces, zones, and systems are configured
- Review on screen — check Loads and other report views for errors first
- Verify units — confirm your display unit system matches project requirements
- Set organization logo — upload your logo under Settings > Organization
File Management
Section titled “File Management”- Name files clearly — the dialog defaults to the export type name (or the drawing name for Drawings); customize if needed
- Create versions — generate a new report for each revision
- Archive exports — download and keep with project deliverables
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”Report Failed to Generate
Section titled “Report Failed to Generate”If an export shows Failed to generate in the Exports table, try creating it again. Very large projects may take several minutes — use Notify me when complete for long-running reports.
Large File Size
Section titled “Large File Size”For large PDFs:
- Narrow scope with the include checkboxes (systems, zones, spaces)
- Disable optional charts
- Generate separate reports for different scopes
