Troubleshooting & FAQ

Most “something looks wrong” questions in HVAKR come down to a missing input rather than a calculation error. This section collects the most common ones, with the exact steps to resolve each.

  • Missing or Zero Loads — loads not generating, external loads absent, a space showing 0 BTU, or infiltration lower than expected.
  • Unexpected Load Values — heating higher than cooling, peak cooling occurring late in the day, or outdoor air higher than a hand calculation.
  • Systems & Airflow — negative supply CFM, the “cooling coils disabled” warning, or an average setpoint reading -459.7°F.
  • Weather & Reports — weather data not matching the project location, or a PDF/CSV report stuck generating.

A large share of load issues trace back to two inputs:

  1. Every space has a space type assigned. Space types carry internal loads, ventilation, and indoor design conditions. Without one, a space contributes no load.
  2. Envelope types have building data assigned. Wall, window, and roof types need an assembly selected before their loads appear.

If a value still looks wrong after working through these pages, share the project with HVAKR support from the Help menu so we can review the specific configuration.
