AI Chat
AI Chat is a conversational assistant that helps you with HVAC design questions and project tasks.
Accessing AI Chat
Section titled “Accessing AI Chat”AI Chat is available on plans with AI access.
From a Project
Section titled “From a Project”While working in a project:
- Click AI in the top toolbar
- A sidebar drawer opens with the chat interface
- Use the history icon in the drawer header to switch between past conversations
The separate Chat button in the toolbar is for project comments and collaboration — not AI Chat.
Dedicated View
Section titled “Dedicated View”For a full-screen chat outside a project:
- From the home screen, click HVAKR AI in the left sidebar
- The full chat interface opens
- Click the history icon in the header to open the conversation list
What AI Chat Can Do
Section titled “What AI Chat Can Do”Answer Questions
Section titled “Answer Questions”Ask about HVAC concepts:
- “What is the difference between sensible and latent load?”
- “How does ASHRAE 62.1 calculate ventilation?”
- “Why is my cooling load so high?”
Explain Results
Section titled “Explain Results”Get help understanding calculations:
- “Why does this space have the highest load?”
- “Explain the peak hour for Zone 1”
- “What’s driving the ventilation requirement?”
Guide Configuration
Section titled “Guide Configuration”Get help setting up your project:
- “How should I configure the weather for Miami?”
- “What space type should I use for a server room?”
- “Help me set up a VAV system”
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”Get help with issues:
- “Why am I getting a validation error?”
- “The loads seem too high, what should I check?”
- “How do I fix missing envelope assignments?”
Using AI Chat
Section titled “Using AI Chat”Ask a Question
Section titled “Ask a Question”Type your question naturally:
- Complete sentences work best
- Include context when helpful
- Be specific for better answers
Follow Up
Section titled “Follow Up”Continue the conversation:
- Ask clarifying questions
- Request more detail
- Explore related topics
Share Context
Section titled “Share Context”Reference project elements:
- “Look at Space 101”
- “Check the VAV system”
- “What about the west-facing zones?”
Conversation History
Section titled “Conversation History”Past Conversations
Section titled “Past Conversations”Access previous chats from the history icon in the chat header:
- Listed by most recent first
- Click a conversation to resume it
- Rename or delete conversations from the history list
AI Chat Limitations
Section titled “AI Chat Limitations”Not Always Right
Section titled “Not Always Right”AI may not have perfect answers:
- Verify important information
- Use engineering judgment
- Consult standards directly
Context Limits
Section titled “Context Limits”AI may not understand everything:
- Very specific project details
- Unusual configurations
- Custom modifications
Not for Critical Decisions
Section titled “Not for Critical Decisions”Use AI Chat for guidance, not final decisions on:
- Code compliance
- Safety requirements
- Legal matters
Best Practices

Provide Context

- Space or system names
- What you’ve already tried
