General Information
The General Information pane contains basic project details that identify and describe your project.
Project Details
Section titled “Project Details”Project Name
Section titled “Project Name”The name displayed throughout the application and on reports. Choose a descriptive name that includes the building name or address.
Description
Section titled “Description”Optional notes about the project. Use this to document:
- Project scope
- Design intent
- Special requirements
- Client notes
Building Type
Section titled “Building Type”Select the building category that best describes your project:
- Residential - Single-family, multi-family, apartments
- Commercial - Office, retail, mixed-use
- Industrial - Warehouse, manufacturing, laboratory
- Institutional - Schools, hospitals, government buildings
The building type affects default assumptions and report formatting.
Project Picture
Section titled “Project Picture”Upload an image to identify the project. This appears on the home screen project card and in reports.
Location
Section titled “Location”Project Address
Section titled “Project Address”The physical address of the building. This is used for:
- Weather station selection
- Map view location
- Report headers
Weather Station
Section titled “Weather Station”The ASHRAE weather station used for design conditions. HVAKR automatically selects the nearest station based on the project address, but you can override this selection.

Contact Information
Section titled “Contact Information”Designer
Section titled “Designer”The mechanical engineer or designer responsible for the project. This information appears on reports.
Client
Section titled “Client”Contact information for the project owner or client.
Additional Contacts
Section titled “Additional Contacts”Add other project team members as needed (architect, contractor, etc.).
Project Settings
Section titled “Project Settings”Unit System
Section titled “Unit System”Choose between:
- Imperial - BTU/h, CFM, degrees Fahrenheit
- SI - Watts, L/s, degrees Celsius
The unit system affects how values are displayed throughout the application. All calculations are performed in a consistent internal unit system.
Deadlines
Section titled “Deadlines”Set project milestones and due dates. These are for your reference and don’t affect calculations.
